Export report as vector-based pictures

Status: Declined

Hello

Thank you for your request. We understand your suggestion but given the age of this entry and the fact that just a few sponsors are supporting it, we have decided to decline this suggestion and prefer to develop more frequently requested features instead. We hope you understand this.

Greetings

Walter

To be able to use Report pages or parts of pages with higher qualities then bitmap-based documents in other programs like powerpoint, Latex or Word it would be really helpful to integrate an export function that allows to create vector based pictures such as .eps or .svg.

First of all the size of the data is smaller, second the quality is much higher...

Hello Mortl80,

All DIAdem images are handled as vector graphics by the REPORT engine, and converted to pixels if a pixel based graphics format (such as GIF, JPEG or PNG) is selected for export. We currently support several vector based image formats for export, including:

WMF

EMF

(EPS)

(PICT)

The last two are really compound formats, but support vector graphics. The PowerPoint Export button in DIAdem uses a vector format currently ...

In addition, our PDF format export is also vector based.

Images.png

I do not see widespread use of the SVG format, but we could look into supporting that in the future if there is widespread interest in that particular format.

I hope that answers your request, please let me know if I missed something,

Hello Otmar,

thanks for your fast answer.

However, I do have problems especially with the .eps-files. First of all it is just possible to get gray pictures, second the whole text is just saved inside the file as a bitmap, third it seems as if even the graphs are also just saved as bitmpas within the file.

I also have problems with the page format of the exported picture. Even when all page settings within diadem are set to landscape the exported .eps is not in landscape and parts of the pictures are cut... do you know what I do wrong here?

Regarding the SVG format - you may be right. It is not very much widespreaded...

Regarding the export to power point - is it possible to export the report not as bitmaps of the whole page to power point but the header of the current page also as the header in power point or the text as textboxes into power point? That would make changes much easier...

Thanks for reading and cheers,
