Auto-label items in a cluster

Status: New

When adding a control as a cluster constant it's important to see what's the controls name in order to use the constant correcty.

As you can see on the right side of the image there's how a control will be added when you drag&drop it into the block diagram.

To show every label it's quite a lot of work to click on each single item (it's hard enough to hit the control correctly!) open the contect menu and select "Description" to show up.

It'd be a great relief, if you can simply select "Show all labels" to perform the same operation with 3 but 20 clicks.

Also there should be a function to automatically select if the text should be upper, lower, left or right to the constant.

You can select all of the elements in the cluster with a drag, right-click on any of them, and select Visible Items->Label.  They will all have their label shown.  What I do from there is Ctrl+Space (opens up Quick Drop) and then Crtl+T which sets the label positions to the left side.

The new right-click plugins solve this problem.

http://ni.com/lvmenus/

Specifically, this plugin:

https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-43213

Download the LLB and save it to

    C:\Users\<username>\Documents\LabVIEW Data\PopupMenus\edit time panel and diagram\

Then restart LabVIEW. You will now have a new right click menu in the Visible Items menu.

(Path is different on Mac and Linux... check the LV online help for directory.)

If you want to tweak the behavior, you're free to edit the VIs in that LLB... no passwords or anything.

Hi @all. Seems like NI already cleared this out. Thanks for your answer.

Topic can be closed imho.

We will leave the idea open... since this plug-in doesn't ship with LV, it isn't something most users would have access to. If you think this plug-in should ship with LV, please Kudos the idea.
