Change properties of multiple Controls or Indicators at the same with right click

Status: New

It would be nice to select a number of controls or indicators, right click & change settings easily such as  "enabled", change "Representation". It would speed up programming.

You can already do this now in LabVIEW.  What version are you using?

I'd say it has been available for at least the last 2 or 3 versions.

Ravens Fan: No, you can't, not really. If you select two numeric controls and right click, the only popup menu item is Properties. Yes, buried somewhere in that dialog you can find the Representation option, but it isn't the same as right clicking and getting the Representation popup menu or any of the other useful popup menus that should work on multiple selection.

Kudos from me!

Aristos,

True.  It wasn't clear to me reading the request that the person wanted those options directly from the right click menu and not just the current Right Click >> Properties method.  While Representation is directly on the right click menu of a single control, "Enabled" is not.

Yes!  The popup menu should contain all items which would be present for all of the selected controls.  I'm sure there will be some thought required to handle the case when the controls have different properties to start with, but I wouldn't want that to prevent being able to make changes.

If two controls share the same options, then those options should be available when right-clicking on multiple controls. Or even objects in general.

+1. Similar manifestations of this idea have been floating around awhile, but I think they can all be generalized to the following: When multiple items are selected, the user should be able to invoke any method or property change that is common to all. This applies to both FP and BD objects. (Basically, reiterating JasonH's comment)

Thanks everyone!

If not all similar FP/BD options can be made available, how about "Reinitialize to Default Value" or "Make Current Value Default" for the list?
