Copy path in project explorer

I really like the "Display Path" option in the project explorer window and always leave it enabled.  However, in order to copy and paste the path to a block diagram I have to...

Right click > Explore...

In Windows Explorer, shift right click on the vi > Copy as path

Close Windows Explorer

In Labview, paste path in path constant

Edit the path to delete beginning and ending quotes

It would be much easier if I could just select the path in the project explorer Item view, hit Ctl-c, and have Labview copy the unquoted path to the clipboard.

Alternatives:

  1. Drag the VI into a path constant (either from the project or from a BD).
  2. Right click the VI and get its path from the properties dialog.
  3. If you need a VI's path, use a static VI reference and get the path property (what I do, because it protects you from changes and automatically handles the VI when building an app).

That is what I do for real apps for exactly that reason.  I use copy and paste for things like testing a component with a path as an input.

Perfect!  Better yet, it works for non-vi/ctl project items--like config files.  I know LV does lots of handy things with drag and drop, but this didn't occur to me.

Request withdrawn.

You can also drag from Windows Explorer into a file constant (or control. You can use a large transparent path control with a value change or drag end event to open files which the user drags into your target).
