I find it frustrating to have to keep drilling down into the palette hierarchies to use a function. And I find that pinning palettes open just uses up too much screen space. Quick-drop is useful, but I have to invoke it and type words in. I'm a point and clicky person and don't necessarily remember the name of the function but I remember the icon and where it is in the palettes. There is a "Favourites" palette, but is awkward to configure and time consuming to change when switching between projects..
What I would like to see is like a "scratch" or "Favourites" palette (toolbar?) where I can drag functions and controls (could switch depending on whether I am editing the FP or diagram as they currently do) from the main palettes that I'll be using quite a lot in the current project (or I find I am using frequently as I am developing) so that I have mostly 1 tool pallet open. It would also be nice to maybe pin it to the screen border so as to not interfere to much so I have quick drag/drop access to my commonly used controls/functions for this project. It Could persist on a project-by-project basis so that by opening the project I have the usual tools for that project and it could have "pages" allowing me to organise them to my own preferences simply by dragging and dropping. It would be nice to be able to choose icon sizes so that if my eyesight is good it takes up less space (16x16?, 32x32?) and it would be as compact as possible (no tool buttons for views etc).
I think this would be a beneficial productivity improvement, certainly for myself and, I hope, others.
