Replace a default probe with a custom probe

Status: Declined

I think having the option to replace default probes with your own custom probe could be a feature that allows anyone to set there own default probes and NI doesn't have to guess what defaults the user wants.

It could be implemented like a probe manager in the tools menu or as a sheet in the options menu.

When you create a new custom probe for a type, that becomes the probe that you will get whenever you probe a wire of that type from then on. You can explicitly select the other probes, including the original generic or default custom probe. There's no need for a probe manager to do this. If you create a new class type, you can define a default custom probe for that type in the class properties dialog so that everyone who gets your new type gets your new probe.
