I need to make a circuit that controls the speed of a motor from 0% to 10% using a PWM and that speeds up to full speed in around 10 seconds and slows to 0 in the same time. This is what I've got so far but I'm struggling with the timing. Can anyone help/advise?

Here is my circuit. Be default max value of time scale is 10 mSeconds. I tried to change to 50 mSeconds, but keep reverting to 10 mSeconds. Is there a workaround?

I have been using Multisim for a long time, but I designed the PCB in another software. I recently decided to give Utilboard a try because I didn't feel like redrawing the circuit. I exported the schematic to Utilboard and it looked good in 3D. I published a printed circuit board and people wrote to me that one wire was missing. I checked the circuit, everything was ok, but the PCB was missing a wire. I can send the ms14 file.

The default settings for an LED in Multisim Live don't match normal LED characteristics. I appreciate the ability to adjust the parameters for a given exploratory circuit. But the default should be what is most commonly seen in real life, not something that is not likely to exist.
When my students use a physical LED, the knee voltage is always around 1.5V. The takeaway is, that although it is a diode, not every diode has a .7V knee voltage. In Multisim 14 it is easy for them to see this.
When they use Multisim Live, unless they are given specific instructions on the parameters to change, they will come to the conclusion that all diodes use .7V.
It would be much better to set the default for real life and let the engineers adjust it if needed. 

A dark mode in Multisim would be great, not only in sheet, but also in all the other elements like toolbar, because sometimes my eyes hurt because of default setting.

It is an exhausting enough experience importing netlist files from colleges who do not use NI. But why NI does not take the time and some effort to provide an export file option to make the analyzed circuit data MATLAB ready?!

This way, I can recover some of the time the lost setting up the project (almost from scratch) on Simulink, and and complete their task on MATLAB without, additional overhead.   

Multisim is a very powerful tool and suitable for educational purposes in first courses of Engineering careers. Howevers lacks of a very simple and useful flexibility that other simulators like PSPICE or QUCS have. Is not possible to modify the variable presented in the x-axis of the Graph View!

 

If you perform a DC Sweep, AC Sweep or Parameter Sweep analysis is very easy to change the variable presented in the y-axis. However, there is not a way to modify the magnitude used for the x-axis. Thus, for example to plot the IV curve of a diode is not straightforward. In a circuit with a battery, resistor and a diode in series the user typically perform a DC sweep of the battery bias and plot the current vs the battery bias. However, is not possible to change the variable plotted in the x-axis to the voltage drop in the diode to visualize the IV (and threshold) of the diode.

 

Of course one can extract the results to an EXCEL sheet or use the IV analyzer instruments but this is not useful for educational purposes where you want to show the students similarities with the experiment performed in the breadboard of the laboratory.

In more advanced simulations sometimes the user also is interested to visualize some magnitude of the circuit vs different kind of magnitudes (voltaje, current, ...).

 

Therefore is required to have the possibility to allow the user to modify the variable of the x-axis for more flexibility of the simulations.

We have been asking for this for several years now and there is never a response.  It makes us loyal users start thinking about changing design package vendors and it must be limiting new sales.  

 

When will these symbol and footprint libraries be supported!?

Utiboard has some windows and fields to create net, buses and component groups in the "Group Editor" tool. The bus groups are required if you want to autoroute a particular bus. However, there's no creation of a bus group when you create a bus in Multisim, so this have to be done manually in Ultiboard, and the back annotate it to Multisim. So I think that is a good idea to have the same "Group Editor" window in Multisim, and also automtically add Buses to Bus Groups. Also, another related enhancement could be the creation of component's "Room Property" (like OrCAD) for components that need to be near in the PCB as passive components for medium to high speed IC's, and use this property to automatically create a component group, and also aid Autorouters to impose particular constraints for this group, like trace length, impedance, and maximum via count. This can increase success and speed of ultiboard Autorouter, or make manual placing and routing much faster.

Currently, there is no way the save/export the paths under Options>Global Options to another computer. It will be useful to export the settings and paths of a certain setup more easily to have, for example, all the computers on a teaching Lab with the same Settings.

Exporting on as .png file is limiting in the sense that you actually have to crop the exported figure to have it fit nicely in a word document. Scaling of the figure also leads to a loss of quality. The grid in the background should also be removed on request.

 

As Microsoft word is largely used to create documents for students, the possibility to export as metafile would be useful to teachers.

 

p.s. Word does not fully support svg files but "export as .svg" would still be a nice option.

I have been looking for a way of creating sub-circuits, i.e., modular designs. If this does not exist, it would be nice to have it in MultisimLive.

Hi,

 

I am a lecturer at UNED, the Spanish National Distance Learning University. It is a University offering blended learning, however, the online learning is essential. I am member of a team composed of 3 lecturers, who are teaching Digital Electronics to first years' students in a Computer Science Engineering BSc programme. More than 1300 students are enrolled in our module this year.

Multisim live is a great innitiative, thank you for that. There are some components we are still missing in the live version as for Digital Electronics, but we understand that this is an evolving project that will grow gradually.

 

Another issue for us is that, among our students, we have an increasing rate of students with disabilities, including people with visual impairments and people with impairments in the mobility of upper limbs. For that reason, multisim live's compliance with WCAG 2.1 is essential for an inclusive university like ours.

 

We are already working with accessible mathematical expressions, and with tactile diagrams of theoretical concepts.

 

Any improvements of an outstanding practical tool like Multisim in that direction would be really highly appreciated. Not only by our university, I believe. Attending the needs of disabled students is currently mandatory according to the laws in Spain and in many other countries.

This simulator is very good. My entire class is using this simulator for my practical purpose. But some components are missing like :-

1.) Square wave 

2.) 7 segment display

3.) 7 segment display with decimal

 

Please add these components it will be highly helpful.

Sometimes in schematic we have to show high current and low current paths. So options to make some track wider and thicker , this for representation only.

Many other software have this feature.  Make life easy.

Recently, a Monte Carlo Simulation was run, testing and changing the value of 12 resistors on a simple circuit. But the computer crashed rounding the 8k samples stating the error:

Changes on the resistors, power sources and simulations options were made but still, the tool was not able to handle at least 20k samples on the same run. The computer used had 40 cores and 64GB of RAM.

 

It will be a great improvement to the tool if the memory could be increased or even creating a 64-bit application.

Are there any plans to offer dark mode in Multisim Live Grapher ?
Dark mode presentation mode is more pleasant.
